At web-friend.com we respect your privacy to the utmost degree. Nothing in the public domain of web-friend will ever place a cookie on your computer, try to gather any information about where you've been, where you're going, who you are, or any other personal information what-so-ever That being said, here is a brief run down of how information is handled here.** Internet servers collect some information about computers that are trying to connect to them (and the web-friend host is no different). This is because one computer must know what language to speak when talking to the other computer. The web server needs to know what kind of computer is asking it for information, and what type of browser is asking for a web page. The city-net server which hosts the web-friend site does collect that type of information so it can provide the pages you request; however, it does not request or collect ANY personal information such as: email addresses, user names, passwords, phone numbers or any other personal information.
Notice: I found that one of the sites that was exchanging links with web-friend was collecting data by placing a cookie on a visitors computer. The cookie collected only the number of computers that connected to their page, and NOT any personal information; however, due to the strict policy of this web site concerning cookies being used without notification, this company (relmax) has since been banned from this web site, and their link removed. This situation happened between April 24, and May 3, 2003. I do take the entire privacy very seriously, and will NEVER allow the use of cookies on this site without prior notice.
** web-friend does not store cookies on your computer. web-friend does not collect, post, sell, give, or in any way distribute email addresses or other personal information.
** If for any reason the use of cookies is employed in the future, A full explanation and description of this procedure will be visibly posted. Example: The use of session cookies in the members section to provide a more secure environment or the use of cookies for members who would wish the computer to remember their password.
** I am working on a more secure members area. In the future, there may be a need to use what's known as a session cookie for members that log in to the private area. Session cookies get deleted as soon as you leave the web site. They will only be used so you don't have to log in at every page. If it does become a need to use this 'session cookie', then I will clearly post all information about the practice. At this time, the only security used for the members sites is through the use of javascript's, and a java application. Not all browsers are capable of translating this information, and it is for that reason I am investigating the use of this temporary session cookie.
** Information members provide while signing up for membership (such as email addresses) is never posted, given away or sold. Information provided during the signup procedure is only posted upon the request of that member. The only reason I require an email when you sign up is so that if there is a change in where the members files are stored, or the passwords need to be changed, then I can contact you to let you know how to get into the members area.
** Information my friends who wish to exchange links with is considered very important to me. I will post the link you requested, however, I will NEVER reveal a name or email address. I don't post that information, and I don't give or sell it to anyone. PERIOD.
** Sites outside web-friend.com, including servers that host sites created by web-friend, such as 50megs.com, 0Catch.com, and freeservers.com, may generate cookies. These servers may also place advertisements on pages. These are not affiliated with, nor do we have any control over these types of adds or their content. Links to these sites are clearly marked. Also, web-friend does NOT have any access to these types of cookies, or the information they may contain.
