Introduction to Online Casino Games

When you visit any of today's leading online casinos, you will find a very similar selection of games including popular table and card games, instant win games, lotto style games, skill games, speciality games, and also now many of these secure online casinos have even developed downloadable Live Dealer Casinos.

Online Slots

Online slot machines are the most popular type of online casino game, or at least they take up most of the game count at today's online casinos. You should find that at least 50% or more of the games are in fact online slot machines and these will generally include classic single line slots (3 reel slots) and multilined video slots (with 5 reels). The latter tend to have entertaining bonus rounds and other special features.

Playing an online slot is relatively simple. You just have to set how much you would like to spend per spin and then hit the spin button. If three or more matching symbols appear along one of the active paylines, you will receive a prize based on the value of that symbol.

Online Blackjack

Blackjack is a popular card game which involves the player having to beat the dealer by reaching as close to 21 as possible. If you exceed 21, you will bust (lose the hand). This game is only played against the dealer and all you have to do is add your cards up as you go. Players are initially dealt just two cards.

It is also possible to get 21 (Natural Blackjack) in just two cards because each card is worth its face value and an Ace is worth either 1 point or 11 points. You can take as many cards as you want to try and make it closer to 21 and the game will end in a tie if the dealer ends up with the same amount as you, for example if you both have 19.

Online Video Poker

When playing online Video Poker, you will always start with a hand that contains five cards. The next step is to hold certain cards (therefore discarding the others) and you will be re-dealt however many you discarded in an attempt to improve your hand. The wins are based on standard poker winning hands.

As soon as you have discarded the first set of cards, the new ones will be re-dealt and any winning hand that you managed to achieve will be instantly paid out so that a new hand can begin. A high card doesn't count as a win, and the lowest pair is generally a pair of 10's or more.

Online Roulette

Roulette is a table game where players must simply try to bet on the outcome of where they think the ball will come to rest after it has finished spinning around the roulette wheel. You get to place your chips on a betting table and the odds range from between even money (1:1) to 35:1. The most popular roulette bets are generally when players bet on red or black.

When placing a red/black or odd/even bet, the minimum amount that you can bet is normally $/€/£1.00. The roulette wheel contains 36 individual slots, including either a single or double green zero (European or American version) and you don't play this game against other players or the house.

Online Baccarat

Baccarat is another popular card game that is played against the dealer. Unlike blackjack, the aim of this game is for your hand to reach as close to 9 as possible, not 21. The King, Queen and Jacks are all worth zero and a ten is also worth zero.

So if you are dealt a three and a king, your total would be three. This is where you could take another card to try and reach closer to 9. This is an exciting and fast paced card game that has exceptionally simple rules, which is probably why it is such as popular casino game.

Online Keno

Keno is classed as a lotto/lottery game and absolutely no skill is required to play this one. Players are presented with a grid containing numbers 1-80 and all you have to do is select between 1 and 15 individual numbers and hope that they are drawn when a new game begins.

20 numbers are usually drawn and you will win a prize based on how many of your numbers are randomly drawn. If for example you select 10 numbers and all 10 are drawn, your prize will be massive, but if just one number is drawn out of the ten you selected, you probably won't win anything.
