Free Web Space
  •  The Free Site: Good place to start if you are looking for the free things to be had for building web-sites and such.
  • 0Catch.com pop-up adds, 50 megs, ftp.  good up time.
  • 50megs: 50 meg, adds, no ftp, limited bandwidth. Good up time.
  • Freeservers.com: 12 meg, Adds, NO ftp.
  • Web1000: No Adds, 50 meg, free message boards / forums, secure areas, unlimited bandwidth, and ftp. (limited ftp success)
  • Freeweb: Haven't tried it. 100 meg, chat room, cgi, password protection, and they claim more.
  • Fateback: Another free host that offers domains as well.
  • Real Webmasters: haven't tried them.  Supposed to support php and mySQL
  • Flatface: Haven't tried them yet. 200 meg, no adds, cgi, php, sql, password protected directories.
  • Breezeland: Popular.  php, mySQL, you have to click on banners weekly to keep your site active.

SEO Tools:

  • Search Engine Watch:  Keep up with all the webmaster news on the search engine world on the web.  A must for any serious SEO webmaster.
  • Sofnik: Some great little tools for checking site popularity (through Alexa), link popularity, IP lookup and more.
  • Link Popularity Check: See how popular your site is.
  • Check Link Popularity: Download this tool to see how you rank in search engines.
  • Market Leap: SEO Marketing Services.  They offer a se saturation report on how many of your pages are indexed in the popular SE's.
  • Alexa: Although they have a reputation for spyware, it's a good place to check your Internet popularity and ranking.
  • Web logs: Analyze your log files.

Flash, dhtml, cgi, and other goodies:

  • Flashkit: Good resource for flash users.
  • DHTML Central: great for creating menu items.
  • Scriptz.com: Perl, asp, cfm, jsp, php, etc.
  • Hotscripts: cgi, php, javascrips and more.  Just about any kind of script you need.
  • RLAJ: Free scripts and tools, worth checking out.
  • GUI Stuff: flash, templates, menus and more. If you want to add pizzaz and graphic work to your site, check them out.  Lot's of popups, and new pages on link clicks though.

Domain Registration:

  • Go Daddy: Get a domain for under $10.  Have heard reports that it's difficult to transfer registrars from here.
  • Registry Fly: Another $10 domain registration place.
  • 123 Domain Names: A UK based domain registration site - fast, easy, no fuss.
  • Network Solutions: The granddaddy of domain registrations.  Expensive.
  • ICANN: Registration Information
  • Registrar Listing: List of all accredited registrars.
  • Internic: Information about registration

 

Learning HTML: 
  • HTML Goodies: Some of the best tutorials to be found. One of the 'original' web tutorial sites.
  • EZ HTML: Top quality site.  From html to css to xhtml - a good overview of what good webmasters need to learn.
  • Helpmaster: Great learning tools here.
  • Dr. Web: from webdeveloper. Good info to be found here.
  • werbach Good for new web designers.
  • Dr. Web: from webdeveloper. Good starting place.
  • Page Resource: Very good place to learn everything from basic html to css.
  • W3 School: The OFFICIAL version of learning html.  How to do it by the book.
  • Brash Design: Very good info for beginners and seasoned webmasters.
  • ahref: Good bookmark. Lots of info on the Internet in general, from beginner to expert webmaster.
  • HTML Guru: Some good info, difficult to navigate.
  • HTML HELP: Top notch site from WDG, The Web Design Group

Tech Sites and Forums:

  • Tech Support Guy: Support for all computer, Internet, Networking, and other info.  Poised to give major geeks a run for their money.
  • Weblamp: Great folks who will go out of their way to help you with your site.  Perhaps the friendliest group of folks I've met since my days in chat.  The main site also offers the Pharos Search Directory of links.
  • Newbie Developer : server down.
  • Major Geeks: downloads, message board forums, & search. Probably the biggest player, but more computer help than webmaster topics.
  • seo-worldNew player in the search engine world forums, but the IPO says it should become a major player.  Run by very knowledgable webmaster with a very friendly approach to members.  Their "Forums" are very informative, along with the articles.  Note to visitors, there are 2 different logins, one for the main site, and seperate one for the forums.
  • Webmaster Forum:  Find out from the professionals how to improve your site.  Large membership = quick response time to questions.
  • Site Experts: Forum dedicated to webmasters.
  • Search Engine Forum: Tech support for all those search engine issues
  • I Help You: Another very good search engine forum.
  • Experts Exchange: Similar to Major Geeks, clean layout, but they don't have the downloads that Major Geeks have.
  • Web Attack: Find missing or updated files, drivers, dll, etc.
  • The Lounge: Another great forum to find help with your site or other Internet q and a.
  • Tek Tips: Another good site for the more advanced users.

  • Safeproxy: yet another proxy server firewall.
  • 404 design: A non-profit site that specializes in helping you get your site created.
  • IT-Inventors: A website development group from the Ukraine that offers graphic design, e-commerce and more.
  • Internet Traffic Report: See how busy the Internet is.
  • Trellian: Search engine submission software.
  • Urgent Click: A webmaster resource.  Specializing in a free hidden hit counter.  Also offer some good seo tools and tips.
