Welcome to free tech help on the web.  web-friend provides free online tech help to newbies, and webmasters alike.  If you're searching for seo tips and tricks or just a surfer looking for a little help or tip with that quick fix trick to stop an annoying error message, hopefully you'll find it here. 

If you're looking for a term to define some slang, or a definition to some computer lingo, or just the explanation to some acronym you heard in a forum, message board or chat room then there is and extensive on-line Slang and Lingo section to browse.

Along with the "searching" and "finding" aspects, there is also a large section on the entire Search topic.  From seo / sem (Search Engine Optimization) and (Search Engine Management), to tips and tricks, and even a large list of search engines available.  Which is the best to use depending upon the topic: computers, web, medical, maps, phone numbers, etc.

So, now that you know what this section is about, and you're ready to start your own "self diagnostics and education", come on in...

Help Sections:  

Articles Various help articles: Including Viruses and How to save files from the Internet, and some of the SEO rumors on the web.  Most of the newer articles are now being posted in the Member section.
Errors Various help files containing explanations and possible solutions to error messages.
General General Help, how to surf the Internet, Computer basics, etc.
Hardware Not much here yet.
Lingo, Slang, and Acronyms The slang, lingo, acronyms and geekey talk you hear computer users mutter.  Includes the emoticons, chat lingo, and p2p text.  These couple pages are the most often viewed pages of web-friend.
Search The Search Tools page which gives you the most popular search engines to use.  Links, tips and reviews to a huge selection of search engines.   And links to sites that help you with the "Search Tools" of the Internet.  There are also some SEO and Webmaster resources here to help optimize your html.
Windows
9.x | XP		 Help files relative to Windows (from versions 3.1, 95, 98, SE, ME, to XP).  The majority of these online tech files come from the Windows 95 era, however this is general information that is relative to all the Windows systems.

3.1 files will be archived to a downloadable zip file in the members section.
Misc. List of links to other help sites, and listing of help files that don't belong in any of the above groups.  Including formatting a hard drive, why you get 404 File Not Found errors, etc.

This section of web help offers some friendly possible solutions to a great range of tech problems, questions, and 'how can I?' issues.  From the newest computer user looking for tips on how to surf the web, or find the technical information they need - to the webmaster looking for ideas and guidelines on how to create the fancy tricks that web pages are capable of today.  web-friend offers it's own brand of online computer and Internet help for those looking for a little guidance on the web.

Two of the most popular sections are those dealing with the slang and lingo of the computer and chat world along with my section on search tools, help and tips.

By offering these tips, hints, tricks, and other items am I promising nothing.  Reading this section won't make your computer go faster, won't fix your Internet connection, and won't help you win the lottery.  I'm not responsible for anything you do after reading these notes, pages, and tips.  These are only MY suggestions, and things that have worked for me in the past.  Every computer is different, every user is different, and I can not say "This will work" for you.  But it has worked for me in the past, and even then - I suggest you always - ALWAYS made a backup of any critical files before making any changes.  And don't come yelling at me if something you try here doesn't work, you've been warned.
