Welcome to the Oakdale CERT website. For those of you who don't know, CERT stands for Community Emergency Response Team. While this CERT website is not updated on any regular basis, it does list some of our vitals. What we are, What we do, etc. Our members meet at least once a month, discuss what's new in the world of emergencies, medical news, and any training available. Members are always encouraged to take any training they can, and are often offered free training in various areas: Medical, EMT, First Responder, Fire, Organizational and Preperation classes, etc. We try to take advantage of any available contacts with other organizations such as:
Red Cross, FEMA, PEMA, Homeland Security, ICS, NIMS, and of course any local fire and police organizations that we can offer a helping hand to.
The Oakdale CERT organization is not an "In Charge" group of people (we leave that to the local fire, police, and EMT folks). What we are is a helping hand and organizational group who offer our assistance whenever, and wherever it is needed. This may mean tracking incident progress, organizing groups, getting paperwork done, contacting the proper organizations for any given emergency, helping with croud control or traffic management, ... or simply running out to get coffee for our dedicated Firefighters, Police force or Medical personnel.
We are a small, but dedicated group of individuals with no public or private funding (other than what we pull out of our own pockets). We have police, firemen, EMT's, and other regular everyday people in our organization that just happens to have training in Incident Management, First-Aid, Shelter organization, and many other emergency situation training.
